The Artists:

Wu Man, pipa: Born in Hangzhou, China, Ms. Wu Man (last name: Wu) was the first recipient of a master's degree in the pipa among many other awards. She also took part in many path-breaking first performances of the music by the 20th century composers including Terry Riley, Tan Dun, Bright Sheng, Chen Yi, Zhou Long, and others. Ms. Wu appeared worldwide in prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Theatre de la Ville and Opera Bastille in Paris, and the Opera House in Moscow, just to name a few. On April 8, 1999, Ms. Wu and cellist Yo-Yo Ma collaborated in a world premiere performance by Bright Sheng at the White House State Dinner in honor or China's Prime Minister Mr. Zhu Rong-Chi.

Li Ping, Dulcimer: Principal dulcimer player of China's Central Philharmonic of Traditional Music, Ms. Li Ping (last name Li) has performed in more than 20 countries worldwide. She was the winner of many international dulcimer competitions including those held in Berlin, Vienna, and Denmark.

Zhan-Tao Lin, Er-Hu: Assistant Professor of Guang-Xi Art Institute, Mr. Lin has been teaching and coaching Chinese music ensembles and received many
awards.

Jun Qin, Zheng: The first prize winner of the International Chinese Music Instruments Contest, Ms. Qin was given the "Excellent Teacher's Award" in China. Her performances have been recorded in movies and Cds. She has also performed in Lincoln Center, Juilliard School of Music, Columbia University, and Harvard University.
